I am an experienced performer and teacher, and I have a degree in psychology. Let my knowledge and experience maximise your potential!

I love the oboe and I love making music. I would love to help you to improve your skills on the oboe. I have studied with many teachers in Australia and Europe, including François Leleux and Emanuel Abbühl, and I combine knowledge and skills from all of them in my teaching.

I also bring many years of performance experience to my lessons. I can help you prepare for recitals or auditions. I also have a diploma in psychology and can help you to deal with your nerves.

I approach teaching from the point of the music. It's important to have a strong idea of what you want to hear, and what you are expressing. When this is clear, your technique will go with it. If your technique is not working quite right, look at the musical intention for the answer.

Marshall March

Rachel is a great teacher and has been working very well with my son. We have seen a lot of improvement.

Alexander Bjørn Jensen January

Rachel Bullen is the sort of musician, who can transform the oboe into a human voice, with the same immense technique and range. Even more important, she is a teacher who manages to pass this talent on to her students. Studying with her is simply an experience that opens so many doors, and inspires you to go out and explore the many possibilities of music.

Amalie Lundsgaard January

Rachel is a great teacher. She opens your eyes for the beauty of the oboe and you will always look forward to the next lesson.
