Head of the brass department at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, Denmark, Jesper Juul was born and grew up in Thisted in the northwestern corner of Denmark in 1973. He trained in Århus, Paris and Copenhagen. In 1996 he was engaged as first solo trombonist in the Danish National Symphony Orchestra/DR. Jesper Juul has participated in a number of soloist competitions and won or been a prizewinner in all of them – for example the Concours International de Genève, ARD München, the Nordic Soloist Biennial, Juventus-France and the Soloists’ Competition of the European Broadcasting Union. Jesper Juul has further been a soloist with many orchestras including the Danish National Symphony Orchestra/DR, the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Bayrischer Rundfunk, the Suisse Romande Orchestra and the Orchestra of Südwest Rundfunk Stuttgart. In recent years Jesper Juul has also conducted amateur and professional orchestras with considerable success.
