I'm a member of the Finnish National Opera and I've been teaching for over 20 years.

I have a very upbeat teaching style. I strive to inspire students to reach beyond their comfort zones. I teach technique as the basis for musical expression. The more we can control, the more we can say. More often than not, I find, students are limited not by what they want to say, but by not having the mechanics to pronounce it—and the courage to commit to their inner voice.

Another focus of my lessons is the Art of Practicing. So much of a successful performance is due to proper preparation: This is an invaluable skill that we can all learn and use in our lives.

Reviews

Peter June

Excellent technical understanding of sound production, articulation and fundamentals generally. Above all, Scott has an extremely good perception of the finest details and nuances that are ideally present in performance, and the ability to focus on what I needed to change in order to approach that higher level of skill, both technically and in terms of musical interpretation, especially phrasing and sense of 'flow' for more lyrical pieces. He was able to accurately reflect back where my limitations were in a high degree of detail. It gave me increased confidence with performing in real life situations.
