Stephanie Zelnick

I'm the Professor of Clarinet at the University of Kansas and Principal Clarinet of the Boulder Philharmonic.

Hello, my name is Stephanie Zelnick and I would like to help you work on the clarinet. With over 24 years of college teaching experience, I have developed a philosophy in which I foster the self confidence of the student while still achieving a very high level of artistic attainment. This combination has helped my students go onto many successful careers as performers and professors around the world.

My lessons are fast paced and effective. In an hour we pinpoint certain aspects for refinement and help the student come up with effective strategies to achieve both their short and long term goals.

I enjoy teaching and performing in the United States and abroad. Recent venues include the Juilliard School, Northwestern University, Yale School of Music, Carnegie Hall, Eastman School of Music, UNAM Mexico City, among many others. The Clarinet journal states, "Zelnick's vibrant interpretation is purely expressive and allows the music to come alive." In addition my work as an orchestral, chamber, and solo musician, I am also a champion of new music and folk genres. This work allows me to constantly bring fresh perspectives and ideas to my students.

More information on my projects and students can be found at stephaniezelnick.com.

Taking lessons from Dr. Zelnick was a great learning experience for me. She explains advanced techniques and complex musical ideas in simple and accurate ways that are easy to grasp. Her passion for creating beautiful music through clarinet is clearly shown through her own playing, and is contagious to her students.
