Principal cornettist in The Royal Danish Lifeguard Music Corps
Principal cornettist in The Royal Danish Lifeguard Music Corps, since 1981 - 2013
I started playing in a drum and bugle corps at the age of 12, where a bugle was put in my hands the first day. I was blown away instantly. In no time I was able to make a “sound” and was practicing melodies, even though the notes couldn’t be played on a bugle. For my 13th birthday I was given a “real” trumpet and enrolled at the local music school in Aarhus. My teacher, Willy Christensen happened to conduct a wind band, that I soon joined.
Throughout my carreer, I have sought to improve my playing, most recently by studying with Kristian Steenstrup, professor at the Royal Academy of Music Aarhus, and tubaist Rex Martin from Chicago, both of whom continue the wind pedagogy teachings of Arnold Jacobs.
