Ubiratã Rodrigues is a Brazilian violinist and conductor who lives in Rio de Janeiro.
Violin student of Jean-Jacques Kantorow in Holland with a scholarship from the “Stichting voor Kultuur Maaseik VZW" (Belgium), and in Antwerp with a scholarship from CAPES (an agency from the Brazilian government) he also studied with Jerrold Rubenstein. Paulo Bosisio was his former teacher at the UNIRIO University.
He is a violinist of the Quarteto da UFF (String quartet of the Fluminense Federal University), since 1991, and since then he sits at the first violins of the OSB (Brazilian Symphony Orchestra).
He is currently a master professor at the Projeto Música nas Escolas de Barra Mansa, Rio de Janeiro.
Founder and Artistic Director of the "SINFONIETTA CARIOCA”, he studied conducting with Alceo Bocchino, Roberto Tibiriçá, Ronald Zollman, Daisuke Soga, Isaac Karabtchevsky e Osvaldo Ferreira.
He used to teach violin and coach student orchestras in summer and winter festivals in Brazil.
In 2013/2014 he has traveled all over Brazil with the Quarteto Belmonte playing contemporary Brazilian music for string quartet in more them 120 cities sponsored by SESC.
