Alice Gallagher

Juilliard graduate and clarinet instructorat University of San Diego, I work with my students to inspire them to achieve their individual goals.

When I was young, I had a dream of being a guest soloist with a major orchestra. When I was eighteen, I fulfilled that dream when I debuted as soloist with the Boston Pops! Although it took hard work and talent to win the concerto competition that gave me that opportunity, without the inspiration and guidance of my expert clarinet instructors, I would not have gone very far.
Now, as a professional myself, I strive to cultivate artistry in all of my students. My approach to teaching integrates modeling and discussion, and I encourage my students to learn how to make their own decisions in musical interpretation.
