Andrea Oliva is the principal flutist at the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and recently became Professor of Flute at the Italian-speaking Switzerland Conservatory in Lugano.
He graduated in Modena and did further studies with Claudio Montafia, Glauco Cambursano, Jean-Claude Gérard and Sir James Galway, immediately beginning a brilliant career.
He is first prize winner at the 'Kobe International Competition' in 2005 and won the third prize at the 'ARD international competition' in Munich in 2004.
He has been a member of the GMJO and attended the Herbert von Karajan Academy in Berlin.
At the young age of 23, he was invited to play as a Guest Principal Flutist at the Berliner Philharmoniker under the direction of prestigious conductors.
He collaborated as a teacher and orchestral player with Mozart Orchestra in Bologna under Claudio Abbado.
He collaborates as principal flute with the Bayerische Rundfunk in Munich, the Bamberger Symphoniker, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
As a soloist he performed with Santa Cecilia Orchestra, directed by C. Hogwood, M. W. Chung, A. Pappano and M. Honeck.
He formed the GlobeDuo with guitarist Costanza Savarese. The duo performs in important international musical seasons with an original repertoire. He's also founder and member of "Quintetto italiano di fiati", Wind quintett.
He recorded many CDs for “Le Chant de Linos”, "Wide Classique", “Hyperion” (Bach Sonatas with Angela Hewitt), "Brillant" and "Sony" (F. Ghedini 'Sonata da Concerto' Oliva Soloist with Orchestra Toscana, D. Rustioni conductor).

Andrea Oliva For me he is one of the best flute players in Europe and the world as well, and it he gave me some really very important tips in 15 minutes. But it was long for me! I am from Iraq and I do not have a teacher In Iraq because we do not have Flute teachers in all Iraq I have asked for help from Andrea and he helped me so much and sends me notes through Facebook and also gives me some important tips on flute and other things as well.
