I am a passionate and experienced clarinettist who enjoys both performing and teaching; over 10 years experience including RCM Junior Department

"Theo is beginning to be really inspired by your teaching; he's starting to understand the real possibilities of the clarinet I think, if you know what I mean. We're both feeling very lucky we found you!"

"I thoroughly enjoyed lessons this semester and learned so much - I honestly don’t think I’ve had better teacher."

Born in a village in South Spain, I studied in Royal Conservatoire Madrid and in Paris with Nicolas Baldeyrou. Established in London in 2009, I completed a Masters´Course at Trinity Laban and attained an Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music. Praised for my “inventive playing”, I have been awarded prizes such as the Making Music Award for Young Concert Artists, RCM Clarinet Prize, the Madrid Youth Orchestra Soloists´Competition, the Clarinet and Saxophone British Society Competition and the Trinity Soloists´Competition amongst others.

As a recitalist, I have performed extensively in the UK, Spain and Germany and have appeared in major venues such as Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, St Martin in the Fields and St James´s Piccadilly in London, Leeds Chamber Series, Teatros del Canal in Madrid and in many music societies across the UK. Recently I debuted in the coveted Dame Myra Hess Memorial series in Chicago and collaborated with the Carducci, Navarra String Quartet, Allegri String Quartet and Melvyn Tan. My performacnes as a soloist include concertos by Stanford, Nielsen, Weber and Mozart. He has also recorded the Copland Clarinet Concerto for BBC3. I have been a member of Southbank Sinfonia and has appeared with ensembles such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional de España, Colin Currie Group, Chroma Ensemble (recording for Harmonia Mundi), Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid or the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

Beyond classical music, I have recorded with The Leisure Society and with the songwriter David Vaughan, as well as playing regularly with the cutting-edge contemporary group Riot Ensemble.

I currently teaches at the Royal College of Music Junior Department and am the founder and director of Musica en Segura, an international music festival in Segura de la Sierra (Spain). I teach online regularly and can help you a lot here.

Daniel is simply exceptional! With his unparalleled expertise spanning various musical genres, coupled with his incredible teaching skills, my son has flourished under his guidance. With Daniel's dedication and unwavering support, my son has not only excelled in numerous competitions but has also developed a profound understanding of musical interpretation and artistry. His ability to infuse lessons with a great sense of humour and joy makes each session not only educational but also immensely enjoyable. In a world where true mentors are rare, Daniel stand out as a shining example of dedication and artistry. His impact extends for beyond the notes on a page, shaping not only my son’s musical abilities but also his character and confidence.

I am fairly new to the Clarinet, but not to music. I’ve studied guitar, piano, violin, and sax (among others) over the last 50 years. After studying with Daniel for a year now, I can say without reservation that he is the finest instructor I’ve ever had. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience across multiple styles of clarinet music - from classical, to blues, to jazz, and even Klezmer. He imparts far more than just mechanics and technical skills. Every lesson opens a door to the music itself, the composers, what they were thinking, proper phrasing, and even approaches in individual notes in the score - all with a great sense of humor and relaxed approach. Lastly, I’m somewhat embarrassed to say that his English is probably better than mine.

Daniel is an excellent teacher. Our son has been taking weekly clarinet lessons from Daniel for more than two months now. We're extremely satisfied with his progress. Daniel is obviously very talented and a great clarinettist. He is also very patient with our son and works with him till he gets all the notes right. Our son has become more confident in his school band and enjoys learning from Daniel. We couldn't have asked for a better teacher!
