Hello Violinists ! As soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster, I'm happy to help you learn what you are most interested in asking me about !

Praised in her Carnegie debut for her “unusually rhapsodic performance, which brought the house down” (New York Concert Review), Franco-American violinist Elissa Cassini has enjoyed a rich and varied concert career. Praised as an “impeccable and powerful soloist” (Neue Musik Zeitung) for her German premiere of Anders Eliasson's Concerto for Violin and Strings with the Arcos Orchestra at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, further concerto highlights include Beethoven and Schumann with the Orchestre de la Francophonie in Montréal, a premiere of a concerto written especially for her by Nicolas Bacri with the Orchestre de Massy in France, Mozart and Mendelssohn concerti with the Orquesta de Cámara de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, and “d’Aller” by Philippe Leroux, for solo violin and ensemble with the Camerata Aberta, “enchant(ing) the ears with this excellent performance” – (O Estado de S. Paolo)

While still pursuing her Masters at New York’s Juilliard School, Elissa was invited by Pierre Boulez as concertmaster for the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra in 2009 and has since enjoyed leading distinguished orchestras. After co-founding New York's Arcos Orchestra, hailed early on as “an extraordinary ensemble of the highest standard,” she was concertmaster of the Petrobras Sinfonica in Rio de Janeiro under Isaac Karabtchevsky until 2013. She since has been invited as guest leader in Europe, with the Orchestre National de Lyon and the Helsinki Philharmonic under Michael Francis and John Storgards.

Experience & Education

  • The Juilliard School 2006 – 2008
    Masters of Music
Being a student in New York City was very exciting. Aside from learning just about music, we were exposed to professional groups forming and we learned how to plan, build and present our musical projects on stages in the real world.
  • Orquestra Petrobras Sinfonica - Rio de Janeiro 2011 – 2013
    Concertmaster
Being concertmaster of an orchestra is a wonderful job, touching on so many aspects of being a musician. Not only do you have to master the violin, but you also strive to be an example for your colleagues and a leader for the community as well.
  • New York City 2015 – Present
    Founder of the Duplexity Concerts
Starting one's own project is something all musicians should venture to do. The Duplexity Series enables me to explore innovative programs and instrumental combinations, expanding the traditional recital format to uncharted territory and audiences.

Elissa has been amazing to work with! I needed help preparing for auditions and she was able to suggest new fingerings and phrasings that have made me much more confident in the difficult passages. She listens carefully and cuts right to the heart of the matter, making the most of our time together. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to improve technique and sound production.
