Former Concertmaster Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Thirty years Professor at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. Intern concerts ,recordings.

My name is Kees Hulsmann.
Although I am officially retired, I am still active as a teacher and performer.
For over thirty years I have been a professor at the Royal School of Music in The Hague and occasionally at festivals in Aspen (Colorado), Brazil, Korea, Spain ,Italy etc.
I have been concertmaster of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra for twenty three years.
Some of my recordings can be found on:
Telarc with the London Symphony Orchestra (Sheherazade).
Modern violin concerto by Peter Scott lewis with the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra on New Albion Records.
Sonatas by Brahms on Olympia.
Some years ago I released an album with the complete original works by Fritz Kreisler on Challenge Classics.
I believe that teaching is one of the most important ways to learn ,not only for the student, how to master his or her instrument, but mainly ourselves to continue developing.
Through constant looking for the best way to serve the composer , which include studying different styles ,we can enrich our life as an artist.
For me personally it has meant that many years ago took up the barock violin to try to understand more of things like phrasing ,bowing etc.
It helped me enormously to even play romantic repertoire.
I can only strongly advise every string player to do the same.
During the pandemic it becomes clear that we have to do everything to keep our art form alive.
I have done some teaching via internet and, although it is far from ideal, I welcome the initiative and hope to be able to contribute
