Lenora Helm

Director of the NCCU Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Vocal Jazz Professor teaching jazz and classic voice with 40+ yrs experience. BM, MM, DMA

Hi, My name is Lenora and I sing and teach singers and singing teachers about vocal jazz. I've been a jazz musician since the age of 15, and the thing I still find fascinating several decades later is the ability for jazz to bring out the highest potential in a musician. I believe in a holistic approach to music - meaning addressing the whole person - Simply put, how you sing is connected to every part of the way you live simply because your body is your instrument. We will cover how your voice functions, how it functions in music and applying healthy singing to jazz repertoire. We explore how jazz music is a vehicle to express Life. I look forward to meeting you and working toward your vocal goals together!
