Lorenzo was born in Potenza, Italy in 1985 and studied at the Luigi Cherubini conservatory in Florence where he graduated with first class honours.
I have met Lorenzo in 2012 when I began my studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London and he has been a great inspiration since. The lessons with him have always been exciting and I have left each time knowing that I have learned something new about bass clarinet. He mastered this instrument to perfection and knows how to respond to it and control it. His clear idea of it's sound was a very powerful guideline when I did my first steps with bass clarinet. As a high profile orchestral musician he has been constantly able to demonstrate excerpts and set audition pieces with confidence and at the same time very carefully observe and comment on my execution. It was a great privilege to receive tuition from Lorenzo and I am grateful that I can use this knowledge in my activities as a freelance musician.
I’ve been studying with Lorenzo for some years, and it has completely changed the way I play bass clarinet, and my perception about its sound. His experience and talent both playing and teaching made me improve in different aspects and helped me enormously to get into the professional orchestras and contemporary music world. He helped me achieve really important goals for me, like the bass clarinet audition for the BBC Symphony Orchestra, which I successfully did last year. His advice is still a big reference for me in all my performances, as well as when I’m practising. I feel very lucky to be one of his students and I really appreciate how he was involved in my progression as a musician. I would very highly recommend his lessons to any clarinet player.
