For two decades Cellist Toke Moldrup has performed all over the world at venues such as the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Wigmore Hall, Vienna’s Musikverein and Great Hall of The People, China. Moldrup has performed as a soloist with Danish and international symphony orchestras under conductors such as Aldo Ceccato, Sanntu Rouvali, Lan Shui and Joshua Weilerstein. He is a frequent guest at music societies across Europe, and at festivals such as Bergen International Festival, Lincoln International Chamber Music Festival, Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival and Oberstdorf Music Summer. He has given masterclasses at prestigious music institutions such as Royal Academy of Music, London, Manhattan School of Music, New York and Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He gives annual masterclasses at Svanekegaarden, Denmark, Althofen, Austria and Zhuhai, China.
He is an Associate professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music where he also studied with two his mentors, professors Morten Zeuthen and Tim Frederiksen. A graduate of the Hochschule für Musik, Karlsruhe, with professor Martin Ostertag, he has studied privately and at master classes with capacities such as Valter Despálj, Hans Jensen, Ralph Kirschbaum and Yo-Yo Ma. Another important influence is The Alban Berg Quartet who mentored the Paizo Quartet, with whom he won Grand Prize at The Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in 2003. Recent masterclasses at the Shanghai Concervatory and Royal Academy of Music, London. He is artistic director at the Svanekegaarden International Cello Masterclass.
His discography includes the Bach Cello Suites (2018), Beethovens sonatas with pianist Yaron Kohlberg, Kodaly's and Britten's works for cello solo and many more.
Toke Møldrup plays a David Tecchler cello (Rome, 1697) courtesy of the Augustinus Foundation. He is a recipient of the Augustinus Foundation Jubilee Grant as well as the prestigious Queen Ingrids Honorary Award.
