International concert flautist and Trevor James Artist. I pass down the method of the old French school/Marcel Moyse. Both informative and fun!
13 years experience of international performing, recording, and flute teaching. I also have extensive experience in teaching music theory (such as harmony/counterpoint, etc.) to an advanced level. Experienced in preparing students for flute examinations, auditions, and competitions.
My teaching work has involved working with students aged between 4 - 80 years old! I am extremely proud of my students’ results. My youngest flute student to achieve ABRSM grade 8 distinction, was just 10 years old, and I am delighted to have prepared a number of students successfully for full-music scholarships and places in the National Children's Orchestra, and Royal College of Music.
After completing my flute studies with Jonathan Snowden and Paul Edmund-Davies in 2004, I worked as a private music teacher alongside a varied international performing career, which includes international concerto performances as well as orchestral and chamber work, recording for BBC Radio, giving masterclasses, programme note writing for the BBC, and working as a flute pedagogue. I am also proud to be a Trevor James International Flute Artist.
This experience working in varied environments has enabled me to develop a wide range of invaluable and unique practical skills, whilst my work writing programme notes for young people for BBC concerts, has allowed me to use creativity and communication skills, to communicate well with young people, and to source materials that make learning interesting.
Able to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds, I would describe myself as caring, encouraging, patient; passionate about music, teaching, and learning.
